The Project that lives beyond your years
Give to help us capture and keep the best of who we are,
before alzheimer’s and dementia rob us forever.
Your gift will make this online video tutorial possible.
Using a proven storyboarding process,
this tutorial will lead our senior generation
step-by-step through the telling
of the most important
stories of their life.
The project is all about unlocking the right stories
As we get older people have trouble finding their stories. Some don’t believe they have any stories. But, truth is, we are all story carriers. We all have stories in our past that have shaped and defined our lives. This project teaches people how to find and tell the 7 stories that define them; the stories that the next generation needs to hear.
Life inside our skin is more than an album filled with people and places; it’s a layered collection of overlapping stories. The “I Really Lived” tutorial will take people step-by-step through lessons learned and life lived.
The question is, do you want anyone to remember you really lived?
I have a proven process that unwraps the stories, revealing our…
- hopes and dreams
- musings and mysteries
- beliefs and values
- struggles and failures
- passions and perspectives
- miracles and wonders
- selflessness and selfishness
- fears and courage
- victories and defeats
- greed and grace
- first-times and lifetimes
The project uses an innovative pre-conditioning lab and a video-based coaching tutorial.
This format centers on proven questions designed to uncover exactly what
you want to pass on to the next generation.
Your gift will help thousands develop the scripts for the 7 stories that have
defined their lives thus far.
Focusing on the right stories
After the introductory video lab, participants are coached through the storyboarding of seven defining essentials. These, seven tutorials will guide the participant in preparing a script for each of the following blocks:
- People who rubbed off on you, brought out the best in you
- Marker events (positive and negative crisis times)
- Milestones celebrated
- Lessons learned the hard way
- Principles/rules that shaped your choices, game changers
- Sacred places that awed or silenced you
- Discoveries—books, jobs, sights, adventures
The last tutorial session coaches the participant in the writing of an Epilogue, unfinished things–lists, wishes, questions, dreams, visions, and the good you see in the people you love.
Remember the playground swing?
To get the swing moving you lean back and push forward. The “I Really Lived Project” will coach people through the leaning back process—story discovery. Then the participants will have new reasons to push forward—take charge of their history, shape their influence, and leave fingerprints on the next generation.
These seven stories will lean back as we continue to push forward.
In the Old Testament, the holy book shared by both Christians and Jews, when the ancients of old reached the end of life, the words were “he died, being old and full of days.” What does “Full of days” mean? It’s uncertain, but if you search hard enough every day is full of stories… “he died, being old, with every day full of stories.”
The time is NOW before you are full days.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge for success of this project is the prevailing penchant for privacy and the tendency to put off things, even the important things. Yet, we want to make a difference, to leave a legacy. We just don’t get around to it. Why do we wait till it’s time for the eulogy? I’ve visited with hundreds of grieving families who in the days after death longed to hear stories of life lived, but it was too late.
This project uses a coaching format, it’s private and personal. The video coach guides the individual through the discovery and writing process. With this personalized innovative method, people will find the motivation to get around to it while there is still time, before dementia or Alzheimer’s sets in and erases a lifetime of memories.
The “I Really Lived” tutorial motivates action
The innovative online lab and video-based tutorial encourages introspection and reflection. The questions uncover the stories that define our lessons learned, our perspective, and our core values. Our answers tell the seven stories that clarify our past and shape the future. Altogether, this project stands life on its ear; it shouts aloud, “Yes, I Really Lived!”
